3 Things You Could Have Known 1 Year Ago

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

It’s a sign of hard-fought wisdom when you hear yourself say, ‘If only I knew then what I know now.’ In fact, many of us are saying to ourselves right now, ‘If only I knew a few months ago that the stock market would turn so bearish…’

Subscribers to Bob Prechter’s Elliott Wave Theorist often get the flip side of that feeling, as in, ‘Boy, am I glad I was prepared for what’s happening in the economy and the markets today.’ Let’s look at three examples taken from Bob’s Theorist of just over a year ago in September 2007, which he titled, Fasten Your Seat Belt. This is the best way I know to point out that those who got Bob’s message one year ago have been well prepared for the fiasco that the markets and the economy find themselves in now.

How Can a Short Sale Affect a Seller’s Credit

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

When compared to other options, such as foreclosure and bankruptcy, a short sale has a substantially better impact on a credit report. Though short selling your home will not improve your credit and certainly won’t look good on there, it will help you keep your head above water and will not destroy you for the long run.

·           Direct Impact on FICO Score
While people who have their homes foreclosed could see their credit score dip by 300 points, people who short sell their homes are looking at a loss of 80 to 100 points, at the most. This is because you are still giving the lenders something and in the end, you are showing the responsibility that lenders value.

·           How Long Will I Have to Wait to Buy Another Home?
This is another area where short sellers benefit over their foreclosed counterparts. The waiting time for purchasing another home when you short sell is much shorter than the other options. In around 19 months, you can purchase another home at a decent interest rate. That means that you could conceivably be back on your feet in no time, establishing a new credit history.

Ionic Air Purifier - Innovative Plasmacluster Ions Defence Shield Against Killer Bird Flu Virus

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

In a dramatic press update on 27 August 2008, Sharp Corporation unveiled its latest technological weapon against bird flu! Incorporated in its ionic air purifier, the Plasmacluster Ion Technology (more on this in a later post) has just been scientifically proven to be 99.9% effective in eliminating the bird flu virus known as H5N1.

As we have been constantly reminded by the press, bird flu is the prime suspect to cause mankind’s next pandemic. Pandemic sounds terrifying. It is. That’s when a highly contagious virus goes global, in a very negative sense. It boggles my mind that the 1918 Spanish Flu may have killed 50 million people on earth! World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed on 5 October 2005 that the 1918 Spanish flu was caused by H1N1, a bird flu virus.

PANIC STATIONS! PANIC STATIONS?

Not now. The H5N1 virus was identified in China in 1996. Up to 10 Sep 2008, WHO data puts the death toll at 245, a “relatively small number” statistically. So what’s the fuss? The greatest nightmare for scientists monitoring the bird flu virus is to see it attain human-to-human transmission capability. Currently, there has been only one probable case of human-to-human transmission recorded in Thailand in September 2004. But if (it seems the virus has not reached the “when” stage) the dreaded virus mutation takes place, you can expect pandemonium on a global scale.
